By publishing a note, the editor of Rai Alyoum newspaper, referring to the possibility of sending missiles and fighters to Kiev after sending tanks from the United States, announced the possibility of a wider scope of the war in Ukraine and the beginning of a direct confrontation between Washington and Moscow in Crimea in the coming weeks.
According to the International group of Pak Sahafat news agency, “Donald Trump”, the former president of the United States, continued his comments about Russia’s war with Ukraine and the incompetence of the current administration of the White House in this regard, last Friday, boasting about his alleged ability to end this war: If I were the [US] president, the Russia-Ukraine war would never have happened, but even now, if I were the president, I could negotiate an end to this terrible and violent war within 24 hours.
The western allies of Ukraine, who have been trying to intensify the wave of sending weapons to Kiev since the beginning of 2023, by sending new and unprecedented heavy weapons, in recent weeks, by maneuvering that Russia intends to gather and prepare its forces to carry out a new round of heavy attacks in Ukraine.
Finally, four days ago, the United States and Germany announced their plans to send American “Abrams” and German “Leopard 2” tanks to Ukraine, ending the dispute over the help of Western allies to the Ukrainian forces by sending tanks.

“Abdulbari Atwan”, the editor of the electronic newspaper “Rai Elyoum” by publishing a note and asking some questions, examined the latest developments of the war in Ukraine and Trump’s comments in this regard and wrote: “Why is no one listening to Trump’s “document” that he said would end the war in Ukraine in just 24 hours? After giving Zelenskiy the Abrams tank, will the US also provide him with F-16s and smart missiles? Will “Crimea” be the field of confrontation between America and Russia in the coming weeks?
He further wrote: After Volodymyr Zelensky was equipped with hundreds of advanced American Abrams and German Leopard tanks, he now wants to equip his army with F-15 fighters and long-range smart missiles. This means that the scope of the war in Ukraine will expand as quickly as possible and it will become the third world war between NATO under the leadership of America and Russia.
Referring to the strategic analyzes of the results of this war, including the analysis of Chinese professor Li Haidong, Atwan wrote that many believe that the main results in this field depend on the quality and capabilities of weapons and soldiers. The Ukrainian army plays a negative role in this field, and Russia has a strong ground military capability. The American Abrams and German Leopard heavy tanks can ideally demonstrate their strong and superior capabilities in this war in the winter, but these tanks will reach the Ukrainian army in the spring in favor of lighter and faster Russian tanks, such as the T-72 tanks.
Atwan further wrote: There is almost a kind of consensus that Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, is not an expert in strategic matters, both political and military, but what he recently clarified in one of his posts on the social network truth and said that the priority is ending the conflict [in Ukraine] and reaching a “deal” rather than sending tanks and billions of dollars to Ukraine… This is worth stopping and considering. We agree with him that President Biden is primarily responsible for the start of World War III – if it starts – because of wrong and disastrous policies.
According to this note, the war in Ukraine can end in only two cases: The start of a destructive war, which the Russian leadership will resort to as a last option if it feels defeated, or if America and NATO annex the Donbass region in the south and east of Ukraine, and above that, by recognizing the Russian Crimean peninsula, its conditions (Russia) to accept.
At the end of this note it is stated: By arming Ukraine with tanks and possibly missiles and fighters in the next phase, President Biden will prolong the duration of this war and close the doors to political solutions and accelerate the first option, which is the most likely nuclear war… And God knows best.
