Earlier, the Yemeni Supreme Political Council announced at a meeting chaired by Mehdi al-Mashat that the extension of the ceasefire depends on the evaluation of the current stage.

The Yemeni Supreme Political Council had asked at the meeting that the extent of the coalition’s adherence to the terms of the current ceasefire, which expires on June 2, and the issues rose in the ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, such as the opening of transportation routes in Taiz and other provinces.

Hans Grundberg, the UN special envoy for Yemen, had previously claimed that the ceasefire was being extended without mentioning the continuation of the Saudi aggression against Yemen.

On April 26, 2015, Saudi Arabia launched a large-scale offensive against Yemen, the poorest Arab country, in the form of a coalition of several Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, with the help and green light of the United States and the Zionist regime.

Contrary to the Saudis’ expectations, their attacks hit the stronghold of the Yemeni people’s resistance, and after seven years of stability and painful Yemeni strikes deep into Saudi territory, especially the Aramco facility, Riyadh was forced to accept a ceasefire in hopes of exiting the Yemeni war.
